Summer Break Mechanical Services for Chicagoland Schools
During the summer of 2024, Autumn Construction Services took full advantage of the limited occupancy to complete crucial mechanical upgrades and system replacements across multiple Chicagoland schools. Our team worked diligently to ensure that all projects were completed before the start of the new school year, improving the comfort, efficiency, and safety of these educational facilities.
Proviso East High School (SD 203):
In the summer of 2024, Autumn completed mechanical piping and equipment work for the second phase of a two-phase project at Proviso East. This year, our work included the installation of 9 water-cooled variable condensing units (VCUs) and 53 variable terminal units (VTUs) in various classrooms and offices. Combined with the work from the summer of 2023, we installed a total of 31 VCUs and 150 VTUs throughout the school. Additionally, we provided a new cooling tower and pumps to increase the school's condenser water capacity. This project was led by Gilbane Building Company.
CPS James Otis Elementary School:
During this 2024 summer project, we replaced the entire steam heating system with a dual-temperature heating/cooling water system at James Otis School World Language Academy. Autumn installed new conventional boilers, air-cooled chiller equipment, and variable drive pumping equipment. The dual-temperature system provides both heating and cooling to the existing air handling units, which were retrofitted with new dual-temperature coils. We completed this project in partnership with Blackhawk HVAC and AGAE Contractors.
CPS George Manierre Elementary School:
Autumn, alongside our mechanical partners, completed a significant heating system upgrade for the classrooms at George Manierre Elementary School. The old steam unit ventilators in each classroom were replaced with combo heating and cooling units. We also installed new heating water piping, pumps, a heat exchanger, and air-handling equipment. Our HVAC experts for this project included Any Temperature, Inc., and Blackhawk HVAC. This project was led by Tyler Lane Construction Company.
