Autumn Construction Services is providing quality control management and administration for Jay Dee Contractors on a project at O’Hare International Airport (ORD) airfield.

The project involves installing approximately 9,800 lineal feet of tunneled 144” diameter reinforced concrete pipe for use as a stormwater conveyance main. Construction also entails setting up associated junction chambers, jacking pits, and connections to existing storm systems, as well as the existing central and south stormwater detention basins. The base of the pipe tunnel sits roughly 40 feet below the existing grade on the airfield.

The work will be executed in phases with close coordination with Airport Operations. Temporary closures of runways, taxiways, and other airfield pavements will be necessary to complete construction. Emphasis will be placed on safety and maintaining quality control throughout the project.
