PROJECT: Steam Trap and Condensate Pipe Replacement Emergency Service

LOCATION: Chicago, IL

COMPLETED DATE: December 2024

On December 6th, Autumn Construction was called to address a leaking steam trap at a local school. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the condensate pipe had broken underground, causing the building to release condensate directly into the ground. After extensive inspection, a plan was developed to restore proper function to the system.

To replace the damaged piping and restore efficiency to the boiler system, Autumn Construction executed the following:

  • Interior Work (South Side): The flooring inside the building was carefully cut open to allow for new piping installation.

  • Exterior Work (North Side): A section of the parking lot was cut open, and a trench was excavated to accommodate new piping.

  • System Upgrades: New piping was installed throughout the affected area, along with two new condensate pits to enhance drainage and system performance.

All work was successfully completed over the school's Christmas break, ensuring zero disruption to students and staff. The project was executed efficiently and effectively, reinforcing Autumn Construction’s commitment to high-quality service and minimal operational impact.
