Autumn Construction Services, Inc. provided the construction management services for the reconstruction of the M1 Maintenance Facility on the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) in Alsip, IL. The M1 Facility was one of the original Tollway maintenance facilities dating back to the 1950s.  M1 was the first maintenance facility to be reconstructed as a state-of-the-industry, Gold LEED© certified, and ADA compliant maintenance Facility.  Except for the existing salt storage structure, the entire site, located in the northwest infield of the I-294 and IL 50 (Cicero Avenue) interchange, was reconstructed in stages to allow the facility to be operational throughout the duration of the reconstruction. The $23 million work scope included the realignment and reconstruction of the Cicero Avenue access drive; expansion of the usable area of the overall site, filling of low areas requiring mass earthwork; construction of two retaining walls; construction of a 110,000-square-foot Maintenance Building; construction of an IT equipment building; the installation of a new Refueling Island including new underground fuel storage tanks and demolition of the existing buildings. Autumn is proud that as joint venture Partner with Chastain & Associates, the team received the ACEC Annual Excellence Award for the Construction Management of M1, the first Gold LEED© Certified Maintenance Facility in Illinois.
