Lake Michigan Water Intake Replacement

OWNER: City of Evanston, Illinois
CLIENT: Stantec Consulting Services, Inc.
PROJECT: Lake Michigan Water Intake Replacement
LOCATION: Evanston, IL
CONSTRUCTION START: May 2023
COMPLETION: August 2024

Autumn Construction Services, acting as a construction management sub-consultant to Stantec Engineering, is actively engaged in a significant infrastructure project: the replacement of the water intake system piping, equipment, and lake intake structure that supplies fresh Lake Michigan water to the City of Evanston Water Facility.

The existing system and intake structure was installed in 1909. The decision was made to install a new system to better serve the community. The upgraded installation will replace aging and technologically outdated equipment, ensuring long-term reliability, operational redundancy, and increased maintenance accessibility. In alignment with the City of Evanston's commitment to environmental stewardship and renewable energy goals, the new system has been thoughtfully designed to reduce energy requirements.

Autumn is responsible for providing on-site project oversight and inspection of the contractor’s work. This includes reporting progress and issues, ensuring the installation is in accordance with the contract documents and specifications, and coordinating with the contractor Ballard Marine Construction, Stantec Engineering, and the independent testing agencies to maximize the quality assurance and quality control efforts.

Autumn Construction Services is excited about participating in this forward-thinking endeavor, which promises long-lasting benefits to the Evanston Community.
