Hospitals & Labs
Autumn is working with Grumman/Butkus Associates to provide retro-commissioning services for the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine. This 525,000 gsf building contains six floors plus the mechanical penthouse and is the second largest of the 244 buildings on the University’s 190-acres campus.
Autumn has been hired by Hill Mechanical Corp. to provide safety-related professional services for the new Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The 1.25 million square feet hospital is located at 225 E. Chicago Avenue, just west of the New Prentice Women’s Hospital between Chicago Avenue and Superior Street. The hospital is scheduled to open during the Spring/Summer of 2012.
On a state-of-the-art biological research facility, located on the Children’s Memorial campus, Autumn provided building systems coordination services as part of the general contractor’s on-site project team. This challenging project had a 9 month construction schedule. The project’s systems included specialty laboratory equipment and fixtures and operating rooms that contained medical and laboratory gas systems, specialty ventilation and lighting systems. Autumn and the team worked with project subcontractors and the project architect and engineers to complete the building one month ahead of schedule.
For this $450 million construction project, Autumn provided project engineering services for the $20 million mechanical piping contract as part of the mechanical contractor’s project team. Autumn’s services included assisting in preparation of the project estimate and bid, piping systems material and equipment evaluation and purchase, submittal preparation, and review of design revisions and preparation of estimates for changes in the work. Autumn was involved with this project during the bidding and early construction phases.
