Robert J. Depke Juvenile Justice Center
Autumn was awarded the mechanical piping contract for the Robert J. Depke Juvenile Justice Center expansion project located in Vernon Hills, IL. This $12.8 million, 2-story, 35,500 sf expansion of the justice center will house new courtrooms, hearing rooms, workspaces for the State’s Attorney’s office, 19th District Circuit Court Clerk, public defender’s office and probation departments. This project will break ground in March 2016. Wight and Company is the General Contractor.

Autumn will utilize “lessons learned” from previously completed Bell School at two new PBC/Chicago Public School Annex projects. Autumn is the mechanical piping subcontractor for construction of the 3-story, 50,000 square foot classroom addition at Edwards Elementary School, and the 3-story, 38,000 square foot classroom addition at Minnie Mars Jamieson Elementary School. Both annexes will include classrooms, music room, computer lab and kitchen/dining facilities. Autumn is teamed with R.J. Olmen Construction Company on both projects.
Maggie Daley Park

The $60 million renovation of the Chicago’s Grant Park-Daley Bicentennial Park to the new Maggie Daley Park which was completed in April 2015, includes an innovative quarter-mile ice skating ribbon that winds around through the park. Autumn worked with the Walsh Construction team to install the hot water heating system and controls that allows melting of the ice shavings and snowfall to keep the ribbon ice clean and skating-ready. Autumn was the prime mechanical contractor for this work scope that included HVAC and temperature controls.
Energy Upgrades at Chicago Public Libraries and City Department Facilities

On this $27.5 million energy upgrade program, Autumn worked as a subcontractor to Ameresco to upgrade and replace components of the mechanical systems to increase energy efficiencies. At the Chicago Police Training Academy our pipefitter crew replaced steam traps, installed new hot and chilled water control valves, repaired steam leaks, adjusted air handling unit dampers and replaced damper motors, and cleaned the existing cooling tower and fill to eliminate scale build-up and clogged workings. At various Chicago Public Library facilities, testing and refurbishing of boiler temperature control safeties, control dampers and control valves was completed, as well as replacement of fan and pump motors and starters.
Calumet Disinfecting Facility

In July, 2015, the new Calumet Disinfection Facility at the Calumet Water Treatment Plant went into full operation. The facility, is designed to improve water entering the Chicago Area Waterways from the treatment plant, which serves more than 1 million people in the Chicago south side neighborhoods and south suburbs. On this project, the Autumn mechanical team furnished and installed (9) - 12,000 to 20,000 gallon chemical tanks, (14) chemical feed and transfer pumps and chemical diffuser components.
William Eckhardt Research Center

University of Chicago
On this new 265,000 square foot research facility on campus at the University of Chicago, Autumn was a subcontractor to Hill Mechanical Corp. Autumn's scope of work included furnishing and installation of equipment and the condenser water piping system for the project. Our team worked on the project from January through November, 2014.
Alexander Graham Bell Elementary School

At this CPS elementary school, existing facility upgrades and a new 19,000 square foot annex complete with a science lab, art room, music room, multi-purpose facility and working kitchen, was constructed. Autumn's mechanical construction group provided existing steam systems upgrades as well as mechanical piping and equipment buildout of the new annex. The tight project site and on-going operation of the school were challenges faced by the construction team. The work had a phased completion schedule to take advantage of working in the existing school building during student summer break. This project was completed in June 2014.
Brookfield Zoo Conservation Leadership Center

Autumn worked as prime mechanical contractor to transform the former Reptile House into the Zoo’s new Conservation Leadership Center. The work required major changes to the building’s heating, ventilation and cooling system to provide an energy efficient and environmental friendly facility for conference rooms and offices. Autumn's work scope included the removal of the existing HVAC, installation of the new air handling unit, boilers, chillers, and ice tank; the installation of the piping systems and components for the chilled water and hot water heating systems, HVAC, temperature controls, start-up and commissioning of the completed systems.
