M1 Maintenance Facility M1 Maintenance Facility at I-294 and Cicero Avenue

Autumn is providing the project management services for the reconstruction of the 110,000 square foot M1 Maintenance Facility on the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) in Alsip. The M1 Facility is one of the original Tollway maintenance facilities dating back to the 1950’s. This facility will be the first maintenance facility to be reconstructed as a state-of the industry, LEED© certified and ADA compliant maintenance facility. The project will be reconstructed in stages to allow the facility to be operational throughout the duration of the reconstruction. The $23 million work scope includes the realignment and reconstruction of the Cicero Avenue access drive; expansion of the usable area of the overall site, fill of low areas requiring mass earthwork; construction of two retaining walls; construction of the multiple buildings and installation of a new refueling Island. Work is scheduled to be completed in 2015.


ATS Bridge Pier Relocation at I-190

This $16.8 million multi-phase project consisted of the removal and reconstruction of two existing piers and an abutment of the O’Hare’s Airport Transit System (ATS). The piers were adjacent to I-190. The reconstruction work included the installation of a new abutment, slope wall, and concrete retaining wall; the furnishing and erection of a two-span continuous unit steel girders over eastbound I-190 and the Balmoral Avenue extension; temporary re-routing of the ATS electrical hardware from guideway onto aerial cables over I-190 and the CTA; and installation of a new electrical enclosure building and the supporting electrical infrastructure. The maintenance of traffic was an integral project component due to the work proximity to I-190 and ATS temporary shut-downs. Autumn provided the construction inspection and construction administration services for the project.


Balmoral Avenue Extension

Autumn provided the construction inspection and construction administration services for this $17.8 million project to construct the flyover extension of Balmoral Avenue over Mannheim Road near O’Hare International Airport. The work scope included viaduct removal, bridge construction and resurfacing, utility relocation and installation, earthwork, retaining wall construction, traffic signal installation, and landscaping. This multi-stakeholder project was performed within IDOT right-of-way and on Airport property, which required daily coordination to minimize impacts to the construction progress and to stakeholders.


Consolidated Rental Car Facility (CRCF)
Midway International Airport

The LEED© Silver CRCF consisted of a multipurpose five-story pre-cast concrete elevated parking structure which included office spaces, operations and MEP control rooms, and a multi-agency customer service area. In addition, the facility included a separate onsite state-of-the-industry Quick Turnaround Area consisting of a single story building with 9 car wash bays and rental agency office space and an adjacent 36 pump fueling and servicing station. Renewable energy is provided by photovoltaic solar panels and wind turbines. The facility is designed to operate at 23% reduction in energy. Autumn Construction Services, Inc. provided the construction management and construction administration services for the $54 million dollar multi-stakeholder facility. Autumn also served as the CxA, performing the prerequisite and enhanced LEED Commissioning services.


Bridge Repair at I-294 (M.P. 37.1 to 39.2)

Autumn provided Phase III Engineering Services to the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority as part of a team led by Bowman, Barrett & Associates. The $12 Million bridge rehabilitation project was located on the Tri-State Tollway between the Bensenville Railroad and Lawrence Avenue. The work scope included expansion joint replacement and repairs, median reconstruction, pier reconstruction, parapet reconstruction, bridge bearing replacement, subsurface concrete repairs and surface repairs, light pole installation and guardrail replacement on the Bensenville Railroad Yard Bridge and SOO Line RR Bridge. Autumn personnel on this project included the Assistant Liaison/Resident Engineer and the Document Technician.


M1 Maintenance Facility Concourse A Additions
Midway International Airport
Chicago Department of Aviation

Autumn provided Owner’s Representation-project management services for this $30 million project construction project at Midway International Airport. The project consisted of two separate building additions - a 40,000 SF two-story addition for concessions and airline operations, and a two-story 20,000 SF passenger hold room with two jet gate positions, and airline operations facilities. The work scope included replacement of existing concrete apron pavement, coordination and relocation of existing underground utilities as well as the construction of the buildings and interiors. All work was coordinated to minimize impact to the 24/7 operation of the airport.
